A note from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Greensboro Field Office:

Greetings:

It is with pleasure that I present to you the attached Registration for the HUD Training Institute to be held at the Greensboro Marriott Downtown on May 27-28, 2009.

Registration is open and we encourage you to register early!  We have a great line up of speakers who will be addressing some of the pressing issues facing our homeless consumers today in North Carolina.  Ann Oliva from HUD Headquarters will be one of our guest speakers during the lunch session on May 27th and she will be speaking on homeless issues at the federal level.  You will not want to miss it!

We encourage each of you to be a part of this event.  It’s an opportunity to  network with each other, hear the latest information on new programs as well as share best practice models.  Our goal is to empower you with the information  you need to effectively and efficiently administer your programs.  We encourage new agencies that are interested in seeking HUD funding to serve homeless persons to sign up as well so share this information within your respective communities.

You will need to register for the workshop sessions you plan to attend so that we have an idea of how many to expect for each session .  Please register by the deadline provided in the brochure.

Lunches are being provided on both days by The Servant Center in Greensboro, NC.   Please read the Lunch Registration carefully as it requires a separate registration to The Servant Center and it has it’s own registration deadline.

On behalf of the Greensboro Field Office and the HUD Training Institute Planning Committee, we look forward to seeing you on May 27th and 28th.

Libby Stanley
Sr. CPD Representative
U.S. Dept. of HUD
All current and new COC grantees should plan to attend as well as agencies that are interested in applying for homeless funding in the future through the Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG), Supportive Housing Program (SHP), Shelter Plus Care (SPC), or Single Room Occupancy (SRO) programs for persons who are homeless.

This two-day HUD  training will offer something for everyone.  Some of the workshops will be offered twice, some will showcase best practices, and some will be refresher and advanced sessions for current COC grantees. There will be 3 workshop sessions specifically for Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) grantees and sub-grantees on Day 1 (May 27th).  There's a strong emphasis on HMIS as this has become an important component of all of HUD’s homeless programs and there will be a workshop session on the Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP).  Please see the flyer for a list of workshops.
