Description

The Wake County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the draft Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice at its meeting on January 18, 2011, at 2 p.m., in Room 700 of the Wake County Courthouse. A 30-day public comment period will follow and will run from January 19–February 19.

The analysis of impediments is a comprehensive review of Wake County’s demographics, economics, housing, land use, zoning, transportation and other conditions. It assesses how these conditions affect availability and accessibility of housing and suggests actions the community can take to overcome identified impediments. The draft can be accessed on the Wake County website.

Wake County certifies annually as part of its annual action plan that it will affirmatively further fair housing and that the entitlement grants will be administered in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Fair Housing Act of 1968. Wake County complies with its annual fair housing certification by conducting an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (AI) and developing a Fair Housing Plan to address the impediments. The Fair Housing Plan is part of the annual Action Plan.
