NCHFA Urgent Repair Program Funds Available

Funding Opportunity:
The NC Housing Finance Agency is pleased to announce the availability of $2.5 million under the 2012 cycle of the Urgent Repair Program (URPl2). Program funding enables recipient organizations to provide deferred, forgiven loans of up to $6,000 for emergency home repairs and modifications to very low-income owner-occupied homes with one or more fulltime household members with special needs (e. g., elderly, disabled, or a child 6 or under with an elevated blood-lead level). Household incomes cannot exceed 50% of area median income.
 
Nonprofit organizations, local governments and regional councils with the technical capacity to manage residential construction projects are eligible to apply. Eligible applicants must cover service areas with a population of 5,000 or greater. The maximum funding amount is $150,000 for projects serving two or more counties in their entirety, $75,000 for projects serving a single county or less, or $37,500 for the twenty-six units of local govemment that receive CDBG funds directly from HUD. These "Entitlements" are the cities of Asheville, Burlington, Cary, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Concord, Durham, Fayetteville, Gastonia, Goldsboro, Greensboro, Greenville, Hickory, High Point, Jacksonville, Kannapolis, Lenoir, Morganton, Raleigh, Rocky Mount, Salisbury, Wilmington and Winston-Salem, plus Cumberland, Mecklenburg and Wake counties.
