Funds Available through Mental Health & Criminal Justice Collaboration Grants

Funding Opportunity:

The Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program seeks to increase public safety through innovative cross-system collaboration for individuals with mental illnesses or co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders who come into contact with the justice system. The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is seeking applications that demonstrate a collaborative project between criminal justice and mental health partners from eligible applicants to plan, implement, or expand a justice and mental health collaboration program.

Applicants are limited to states, units of local government, federally recognized Indian tribes (as determined by the Secretary of the Interior), and tribal organizations. BJA will only accept applications that demonstrate that the proposed project will be administered jointly by an agency with responsibility for criminal or juvenile justice activities and a mental health agency.

Grants are available for periods of 12 or 24 months, for amounts between $50,000 and $250,000.

Please refer to the notice of funding opportunity for full details and application instructions.  The Corporation for Supportive Housing has also created a summary of grant requirements for potential applicants.

The deadline for applications is 11:59 pm Eastern Time on February 3, 2011.
