Supportive Housing 101 Training

The Supportive Housing Development Program (SHDP) at the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency is pleased to announce a series of four free training workshops designed to provide an understanding of the basic elements of financing, building and operating supportive housing.

The first class of the series will cover (1) planning your project, (2) performing a needs assessment and (3) funding sources for development or “bricks and sticks”.   The class will emphasize real life examples and participants are encouraged to bring information about any projects they are considering or have underway.

This training is free, but registration is required.  Please register for this class online.  To register two participants, please follow the link twice and complete a registration for each person.  No more than two people per organization may attend the first class.  The classes will be offered regularly in the future.

The State Employees Credit Union (SECU) Operations Center is located across from Trader Joe’s at the intersection of Interstate 440 and Wake Forest Boulevard.  The entrance to 3101 Wake Forest Road is the first road on the right south of the beltline, as you travel south on Wake Forest Blvd.  The building can also be reached from Wake Town Drive using the 3rd driveway on the right.

SECU asks that participants use the large parking lot not the visitor spaces, which are reserved for short term parking.  Please use the main entrance and check in with the receptionist who will direct you to the training room.  For emergency directions on the day of the event, you can contact the SECU receptionist at 919-508-8778.  Please bring a sweater as the room is usually cool.
