Description

This SOAR (SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery) Essentials training is an abbreviated version of the 2-day training offered to caseworkers who are actively engaged in the disability application process with their clients.  In half a day, we will cover the basics of the SOAR process, including:
  • A step-by-step explanation of the SSI/SSDI application and disability determination process
  • Strategies for working with homeless persons with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders on disability applications--only a fraction of this population currently receives the disability benefits to which they are entitled
  • Samples and explanations of SSA and DDS paperwork and necessary reports
  • Agency and community implementation planning

This training is geared toward those who supervise or support SOAR caseworkers in their agency or community.  It's also a great refresher course for those caseworkers who have already participated in the 2-day SOAR caseworker training.
