US Conference of Mayors: 2010 Status Report on Hunger and Homelessness in America's Cities
On December 21, 2010, the U.S. Conference of Mayors (U.S.C.M.) released the 2010 version of their annual report, A Status Report on Hunger and Homelessness in America's Cities. The report presents findings from surveys conducted by each of the 27 cities that sit on the U.S.C.M. Task Force on Hunger and Homelessness.
The report presents data collected on emergency food assistance and homeless assistance services provided between September 1, 2009 and August 31, 2010, as well as documents the plans and strategies each city has for alleviating hunger and homelessness problems in the future. This year's findings included that people experiencing homelessness increased across survey cities by 2 percent, and family homelessness increased by 9 percent.
