Strategies for Building Successful Relationships with Local VAs

Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Centers have been tasked with creating local five year plans to end homelessness among veterans. This new challenge presents an opportunity for these centers to work with local homeless assistance systems in a new way.
On December 20, 2010, the National Alliance to End Homelessness released a new brief, Five Strategies for Building a Successful Relationship with Your Local VA, which outlines the approaches homeless assistance systems can use to build or strengthen relationships with their local VA Medical Center.
The brief is based on interviews with several communities that have successfully strengthened these partnerships. Topics in the brief include bringing VA staff into the larger homeless assistance system, making ending veteran homelessness a local priority, and increasing transparency and cooperation.
Download the brief here or read it on the NAEH website.
